133 MHz Quad SPI NOR Flash for code-shadow and XIP
The Infineon S25FL128SAGMFVR00 is a 128Mbit SPI NOR Flash from the FL-S family, built for code storage and execute-in-place (XIP) in embedded systems. Its 133 MHz clock rate with Quad I/O support delivers sustained read throughput that keeps a Cortex-M or RISC-V core fed without wait-state stalls on the SPI bus.
At 133 MHz in Quad I/O mode, the part can deliver around 66 MB/s read throughput (133 MHz x 4 bits/cycle). That is enough to support XIP from Flash for many real-time control loops without needing a separate DRAM. The host SPI controller must support a 133 MHz SCLK — check the MCU's SPI prescaler limits before committing the layout.
This is a current-production part, so new designs can proceed without near-term last-time-buy risk. The FL-S family has broad distribution support, and the 16-SOIC package is a high-volume standard that tends to stay in production longer than niche packages.
