128 Mbit NOR flash for code-shadowing and XIP
The S25FL128LAGNFI013 is a 128 Mbit (16M x 8) NOR flash from Infineon's FL-L series, organized as a single non-volatile memory array with SPI and Quad I/O interface. The 133 MHz clock rate supports execute-in-place (XIP) operation from the flash — the CPU fetches instructions directly without copying to RAM, saving boot time and SRAM budget. Quad I/O and QPI modes use four data lines to deliver up to 532 Mbps throughput at 133 MHz, compared to 133 Mbps for a single-bit SPI. This matters for firmware updates and fast code shadowing where the flash bandwidth is the bottleneck.
Package and board-fit: 8-WSON with exposed pad
The pad is electrically connected to VSS — the via pattern should match the pad dimensions to avoid solder voiding during reflow. The tape-and-reel (TR) packaging option suits high-volume pick-and-place; the reel quantity is confirmed at RFQ.
