Motor controller function and key interfaces
This is a controller for commutation and direction management of AC synchronous motors, part of Infineon's MCE series. It integrates an IGBT pre-driver in a half-bridge (3) output configuration, meaning it handles the gate drive signals for a three-phase inverter stage directly. Communication with a host microcontroller or DSP goes through I²C, SPI, or RS-232 interfaces — the three serial buses cover most embedded control architectures, from sensorless FOC to trapezoidal commutation schemes.
The dual-voltage architecture is typical for mixed-signal motor controllers that keep the logic core at a lower voltage while the I/O interfaces with 3.3 V peripherals.
