Package and mounting
That puts it in the sweet spot for 48 V to 72 V DC bus switching, low-side load switching in industrial PSUs, and motor drive bridge legs up to a few hundred watts. Gate charge totals 25 nC at 10 V, so a standard gate driver IC or a discrete totem-pole stage can switch it into the tens of kilohertz without excessive drive current.
Through-hole IPAK — field-swappable with basic tools
The TO-251AA IPAK package has short leads and a tab that bolts or solders to the board. It is a through-hole part, so no hot-air station needed — a soldering iron and a desoldering pump are enough to swap it on site. The tab is the drain; the gate and source pins are in line, and the package outline matches standard TO-251 footprints. No lab, no bench, let us go. Operating junction temperature spans -55°C to 175°C, which covers engine-bay ambient and industrial cabinet heat soak. Power dissipation is 48 W at case temperature — derate above 25°C per the datasheet curve, but the tab-to-heatsink path is straightforward with the through-hole mounting.
Active production, ROHS3, no second-source on record
ROHS3 compliant, no lead or restricted substance concerns for EU or global shipping. For dual-sourcing, you would need to qualify a similar 100 V N-channel in TO-251 from another vendor.
Sourcing and availability
For small quantities or prototype runs, the through-hole package makes it easy to hand-assemble without a reflow oven.
