Half-bridge driver for 600 V bus applications
The IR2104 is a high-voltage half-bridge gate driver from Infineon (formerly International Rectifier), designed to drive N-channel MOSFETs and IGBTs in synchronous-buck or half-bridge topologies. It integrates a bootstrap diode rated for 600 V maximum high-side voltage, letting it float the high-side gate drive up to a 600 V DC bus without an isolated supply. The driver delivers 210 mA source and 360 mA sink peak output current, with typical 100 ns rise and 50 ns fall times — enough to switch medium-power IGBTs and MOSFETs in motor drives, UPS, and SMPS applications up to a few tens of kHz.
Supply and logic interface
Supply range is 10 V to 20 V, matching the bias rail common in industrial and appliance power stages. The non-inverting input simplifies the control interface: a single PWM signal from the controller drives both the high-side and low-side outputs with built-in deadtime, eliminating the need for external timing components.
Through-hole package and temperature grade
Housed in an 8-pin PDIP (0.300-inch body), the IR2104 is a through-hole part suited for prototyping, rework, and low-volume production where SMT reflow is not available.
