Half-bridge gate driver for 600 V rails
The Infineon IR21014S is a high-voltage half-bridge gate driver designed to drive IGBTs and N-channel MOSFETs in a bootstrap configuration. Its 600 V maximum high-side voltage suits it for motor drives, inverters, and switched-mode power supplies where the DC bus sits at several hundred volts. The two independent channels let one device handle both the high-side and low-side switches of a half-bridge leg.
Gate drive current and switching speed
Peak output current is rated 210 mA source and 360 mA sink. The asymmetric sink/source ratio is typical for half-bridge drivers — the stronger sink pulls the gate down faster to prevent shoot-through. With 100 ns rise and 50 ns fall times typical, the driver can switch medium-power IGBTs and MOSFETs in the tens-of-kHz range without excessive cross-conduction loss.
The non-inverting input type means the output follows the input — no inversion logic to account for in the firmware.
The IR21014S is listed as obsolete. For BOM lines that still call out this part, procurement must go through the surplus and broker market. We source sealed reels and tube stock against RFQ — date-code spread and original packaging condition are confirmed before quoting.
