Infineon lists the IPS6041STRLPBF as Obsolete. If you have this on a BOM line, the first question is whether you can source enough for the remaining production run, or whether it is time to qualify a replacement.
Switch parametrics — the numbers that matter
This is a single-channel high-side N-channel power switch in a TO-263-5 D2Pak package. The typical on-resistance is 110 mOhm — that is the conduction loss figure you need for the thermal calculation at your load current. Maximum continuous output is 2.3 A, and the load supply range spans 6 V to 28 V. No separate Vcc supply is needed — the switch is self-powered from the load rail. The input is non-inverting, On/Off interface, with a 1:1 input-to-output ratio. That means a logic high on the input turns the switch on — straightforward drive from a GPIO or a relay driver.
Protection set — what trips and what recovers
Fault protection includes current limiting (fixed), open-load detection, and over-temperature shutdown. The Auto Restart feature means the switch attempts to re-start after a fault condition clears — useful for driving lamps or motors where a momentary overload is expected, but something to account for in the system fault-handling logic.
The D2Pak package with its exposed tab conducts heat to the board copper. A thermal-via pattern under the tab is expected for sustained loads.
