18A low-side switch with integrated protection
It integrates fixed current limiting and over-temperature shutdown, eliminating the need for external sense resistors or thermal monitoring circuits in many motor, solenoid, and relay-drive applications. The non-inverting On/Off interface accepts a logic-level gate signal without requiring a separate Vcc supply, simplifying the drive circuit to a single GPIO from a microcontroller or PLC output.
10 mOhm Rds(on) and thermal budget
With a typical on-resistance of 10 mOhm, the IPS1011PBF dissipates roughly 3.2W at 18A continuous load — a TO-220 with a modest heatsink handles that in still air, but the 150°C maximum junction temperature means the thermal resistance of the heatsink interface must be calculated for the ambient temperature of the enclosure.
Availability is limited to surplus inventory and broker channels. For new designs, consider current-production low-side switches in the same TO-220 footprint with comparable Rds(on) and current ratings.
Through-hole mounting and package note
The lead pitch and hole pattern match industry-standard footprints, making it a drop-in replacement for many legacy low-side switch designs.
