800 V CoolMOS P7 in a reworkable SOT223
The IPN80R750P7ATMA1: The 7.2 W power dissipation ceiling at case temperature means the thermal pad on the PCB does the heavy lifting — plan for adequate copper area under the drain tab.
Switching losses and drive budget
Gate charge is 17 nC at 10 V, and input capacitance measures 460 pF at 500 V drain-source. The ±20 V maximum gate-source rating gives margin for gate-drive overshoot in noisy environments. Gate threshold is 3.5 V max at 140 µA drain current — the datasheet specifies 10 V for rated Rds(on).
Package and mounting
The PG-SOT223 package is a surface-mount part with a visible pin 1 bevel — easy to hand-rework with hot air if the board layout gives the nozzle access. The drain tab is the large centre pad; wicking solder from under it takes a preheater and a bit of patience, but the part will survive the rework cycle if the profile stays under 260°C peak.
Lifecycle and supply posture
The part is ROHS3 compliant.
