Switching loss and drive budget
The IPDD60R105CFD7XTMA1: Input capacitance Ciss is 1504 pF typical at 400 V drain-source — this is the dominant term in the switching loss equation for hard-switched converters. At 100 kHz, the driver must charge and discharge this capacitance each cycle; the 36 nC Qg figure already accounts for the Miller plateau charge, so the total drive current budget is 3.6 mA per kHz of switching frequency.
Thermal and package constraints for the layout
Maximum power dissipation is 198 W at the case — this is the theoretical limit with an ideal heatsink. The 150°C maximum junction temperature is the same as the CoolMOS CFD7 family's rating — derate the continuous drain current above 100°C case temperature per the datasheet's normalized curve.

The CFD7 generation improves the body diode reverse recovery charge over the previous CFD2 generation, reducing the dead-time loss in bridge topologies.
