The IPD70R360P7SAUMA1 is a 700 V N-Channel MOSFET from the CoolMOS™ P7 series.
Switching losses and gate drive — sizing the driver
With a total gate charge of 16.4 nC at 10 V, the IPD70R360P7SAUMA1 draws about 1.64 mA from the driver per 100 kHz of switching frequency. That is light enough that a standard 1 A gate-driver IC can drive two of these in parallel for a half-bridge without thermal issues on the driver die. The input capacitance is 517 pF at 400 V drain-source — a typical figure for a 700 V MOSFET in this Rds(on) class. The low capacitance means the driver does not fight a large Miller plateau during the switching transition, which keeps the turn-on and turn-off energy per cycle low in a hard-switched topology.
Thermal budget in a DPak — what 59.4 W means on a real board
In practice, with a 2 oz copper pad on a 40 mm × 40 mm FR4 island, expect to dissipate about 2–3 W before the junction hits 125 °C. The PG-TO252-3 package has a large exposed tab on the bottom — the drain connection.
