200 V N-channel MOSFET in D²Pak — what the ratings tell you
The IPB320N20N3GATMA1: Total gate charge is 29 nC at 10 V.
175°C junction — where this part earns its keep
The 200 V drain-source voltage, combined with the 175°C Tj max, gives headroom in 48 V or 72 V bus architectures where transients can exceed 100 V; the 32 mOhm Rds(on) keeps the conduction losses manageable even when derated for high ambient temperature.
Package and footprint — D²Pak (TO-263) reality
Supplied in the PG-TO263-3 package — the standard D²Pak with two leads plus the exposed drain tab — this is a surface-mount part that requires a copper land pattern on the PCB to sink heat from the tab into the board or an external heatsink. The exposed tab is the drain terminal; the PCB layout must connect it to the drain node with sufficient copper area and thermal vias to keep the junction temperature within the 175°C limit under continuous 34 A load.
The part is ROHS3 compliant and carries the standard Infineon OptiMOS™ series designation.
