150V, 83A N-channel — the power handling envelope
The IPB108N15N3GATMA1: The 10.8 mOhm max on-resistance at 83A and 10V gate drive sets the conduction loss floor for a given load current — at 50A the dissipation is under 30W, which the 214W package rating can handle with adequate heatsinking.
Gate charge and switching speed
Total gate charge is 55 nC at 10V, with an input capacitance of 3230 pF at 75V drain. A 10V gate drive is the recommended rail for minimum Rds(on); the part also accepts 8V drive with slightly higher on-resistance.
175°C junction — industrial and automotive thermal margin
The wide range also provides headroom for pulsed overload conditions without immediate derating.
ROHS3 compliance is confirmed, so the part meets current EU and global restriction requirements for new designs.
Package and footprint — D2PAK (TO-263)
Supplied in a PG-TO263-3 package (D2PAK, 2 leads plus tab), surface-mount. The large copper tab on the bottom provides the primary thermal path to the PCB — the datasheet's 214W power dissipation assumes a heatsink pad on the board. The tab is also the drain connection, so the PCB layout must account for high-current drain routing through the tab pad.
