1200 V, 36 A Trench Field Stop IGBT for automotive and industrial drives
The Infineon IKW15N120CS7XKSA1 is a 1200 V, 36 A Trench Field Stop IGBT in a through-hole TO-247-3 package, part of the Automotive TrenchStop™ series qualified to AEC-Q101. It is designed for medium-power switching applications such as 3-phase inverter output stages in hybrid/electric vehicle traction drives, industrial motor drives, and uninterruptible power supplies where 1200 V bus voltages and junction temperatures up to 175°C are expected.
Switching losses and gate drive budget
Under the test condition of 600 V, 15 A, 10 Ω gate resistor, and 15 V gate drive, the IKW15N120CS7XKSA1 switches 750 µJ on and 700 µJ off. The total gate charge is 95 nC.
175°C junction temperature and AEC-Q101 qualification
Rated for continuous operation from -40°C to 175°C junction temperature, this IGBT is AEC-Q101 qualified.
Package and mounting: TO-247-3 through-hole
Housed in a standard TO-247-3 through-hole package (PG-TO247-3), the IKW15N120CS7XKSA1 is a drop-in replacement for many 1200 V IGBTs in the same footprint. The through-hole mounting is straightforward for rework and prototyping — no special soldering equipment needed beyond a soldering iron or wave solder. The collector tab is electrically live, so an insulating pad and thermal grease (or a pre-applied thermal interface) are required when mounting to a heatsink.
