600 V, 40 A Trench Field Stop IGBT in a surface-mount D²Pak
The Infineon IKB20N60TATMA1 is a 600 V, 40 A Trench Field Stop IGBT from the TrenchStop® series, housed in a TO-263-3 (D²Pak) surface-mount package. It is designed for hard-switching applications such as motor drives, power supplies, and inverters where efficiency and thermal performance are critical. The device combines a low saturation voltage of 2.05 V typical at 15 V gate drive and 20 A collector current with a fast switching energy of 770 µJ, making it suitable for frequencies up to the tens of kilohertz range.
175°C junction — rated for the hot spots
The -40°C to 175°C operating junction temperature range covers industrial motor-drive cabinets and under-hood automotive environments. The 166 W maximum power dissipation assumes a properly heatsunk D²Pak on a suitable PCB copper area — the TO-263-3 package relies on the tab and board copper for thermal transfer, so a thermal pad or via array under the tab is expected for continuous 40 A operation.
