600 V, 80 A Trench Field-Stop IGBT in TO-247-3
The Infineon IGW40N60H3FKSA1 is a 600 V, 80 A Trench Field-Stop IGBT from the TrenchStop® series, housed in a TO-247-3 through-hole package. It is designed for hard-switching applications such as motor drives, uninterruptible power supplies, and welding inverters where conduction and switching losses need to be balanced. The Trench Field-Stop structure delivers a low saturation voltage of 2.4 V at 15 V gate drive and 40 A collector current, while the 223 nC gate charge keeps driver requirements manageable for a 40 A class device.
Thermal and mechanical fit
Junction temperature range spans -40°C to 175°C, giving headroom for high ambient or self-heating in enclosed cabinets. Maximum power dissipation is 306 W. The TO-247-3 package (PG-TO247-3-1) is a standard through-hole footprint; it fits existing heatsink layouts for 600 V IGBTs in this form factor. The 80 A continuous collector rating and 160 A pulsed current cover motor inrush and short-circuit conditions within the SOA.
