Zero reverse recovery — what it means for the PFC stage
The Infineon CoolSiC™+ IDL08G65C5XUMA2 is a 650 V, 8 A silicon-carbide Schottky diode in a PG-VSON-4 surface-mount package. Its zero reverse-recovery time (trr = 0 ns) eliminates the turn-off loss and snubber network that a silicon ultrafast diode of the same voltage class would require.
PG-VSON-4 — board-space and assembly fit
The PG-VSON-4 package is a compact 4-lead surface-mount footprint, smaller than a TO-220 or D2PAK. It suits automated pick-and-place and reflow assembly. The supplier device package code is PG-VSON-4; the package / case is listed as 4-PowerTSFN. No through-hole heatsink tab — the thermal path is through the exposed pad on the bottom of the package, so the PCB layout must provide a thermal via array under the pad to pull heat into the inner copper planes.
Lifecycle and compliance
No end-of-life notice or last-time-buy window is on record. The CoolSiC™+ series is Infineon's mainstream SiC Schottky generation.
