CCM PFC controller for high-power rectification
The Infineon ICE3PCS02GXUMA1 is a Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) boost-type power factor correction controller, designed to drive a MOSFET in the PFC stage of AC-DC power supplies. CCM operation is the standard topology for PFC stages above 300 W — it keeps the inductor current continuous, which reduces peak current stress on the boost diode and the MOSFET compared to boundary-conduction-mode designs. The supply voltage range of 11 V to 25 V covers the bias rail derived from the auxiliary winding of the main transformer or a standalone flyback supply, common in universal-input (85–265 VAC) offline power supplies.
Switching frequency and temperature grade
At the low end, the inductor ripple current is higher, which may push the core into saturation; at the upper end, the MOSFET and boost diode switching losses dominate the thermal budget. The 250 kHz ceiling suits compact magnetic designs where the inductor volume is constrained.
Package and board integration
Housed in an 8-pin SOIC (PG-DSO-8) with a 3.90 mm body width, the controller fits the standard SOIC-8 footprint. The surface-mount package allows automated assembly on the same side of the board as the power-stage MOSFET and rectifier, keeping the gate-drive loop short.
