57 W flyback with 800 V avalanche-rated MOSFET
The ICE3AR1580VJZXKLA1 is an integrated offline flyback switcher from Infineon's CoolSET™F3R family, combining a PWM controller with an 800 V avalanche-rugged CoolMOS™ power MOSFET in a single PG-DIP-7-1 through-hole package. Rated for 57 W of output power, it targets isolated AC-DC converter designs where the controller and switch share one thermal path — the 8-DIP (7-lead) footprint keeps the bill of materials compact for low-to-medium power supplies.
Switching frequency, duty cycle, and protection envelope
Fixed 100 kHz switching frequency with a maximum duty cycle of 75 % gives the transformer designer a predictable volt-second product to work with — the 100 kHz fundamental keeps the magnetics small while staying below the point where core losses dominate in standard ferrites. Built-in fault protection covers overload, over-temperature, and over-voltage conditions. The 17 V start-up voltage and 10.5 V to 27 V Vcc range mean the IC powers up cleanly from a bulk capacitor and rides through line dips without dropping out. The 800 V breakdown voltage on the integrated MOSFET provides margin for reflected voltage plus leakage inductance spike in a flyback — a 600 V part would need a snubber that burns more power; the 800 V rating lets you trade snubber loss for efficiency.
