Flyback controller for isolated offline supplies
The Infineon ICE2QS02GXUMA1 is a current-mode flyback controller designed for isolated AC-DC power supplies. It operates from an 11 V to 25 V supply rail and drives an external power switch — no internal MOSFET, so you pick the transistor to match your output power and voltage stress. The switching frequency sweeps from 20 kHz to 150 kHz, letting you trade transformer size against switching losses. Fault protection covers current limiting, open-loop, overload, and over-voltage conditions, which simplifies the protection loop around the converter.
External switch — BOM flexibility vs. integration
Because the ICE2QS02GXUMA1 has no internal power switch, the designer selects an external MOSFET rated for the peak drain voltage and RMS current of the supply. This adds a component to the BOM but allows the switch to be sized exactly to the power level — a 50 W supply uses a different FET than a 150 W one. Contrast this with integrated CoolSET parts like the ICE2QR2280G1XUMA1, which embed the 800 V MOSFET and run at a fixed 52 kHz, trading flexibility for a smaller footprint.
Active production, no LTB concern
The ICE2QS02GXUMA1 carries an Active lifecycle status with ROHS3 compliance. No last-time-buy notice is on record.
