Offline flyback controller with integrated 650 V MOSFET
The Infineon ICE2QR4765XKLA1 is a quasi-resonant flyback PWM controller with an integrated 650 V CoolMOS power MOSFET in a through-hole PG-DIP-8 package. It delivers up to 30 W in isolated flyback topologies, switching at 52 kHz with a 50% maximum duty cycle. Built-in fault protections — current limiting, over-load, over-temperature, and over-voltage — reduce external supervision circuitry. The part is part of the CoolSET™-Q1 family, designed for industrial and automotive-grade power supplies where junction temperatures can reach 150°C.
650 V breakdown and 30 W — sizing the primary side
The 650 V drain-source breakdown voltage handles reflected voltage and leakage spikes in flyback designs. The 30 W output power is a practical limit for auxiliary supplies, bias rails, and small offline converters.
Through-hole PG-DIP-8 — board layout and thermal management
The PG-DIP-8 package is a through-hole 8-pin DIP with 0.300-inch (7.62 mm) row spacing. It suits single-sided boards, prototyping, and designs where wave-soldering is preferred over SMT reflow. The DIP package's copper leadframe provides moderate heat dissipation; for 30 W output, adequate copper area on the PCB and airflow — or forced cooling in enclosed supplies — is recommended. The tube shipping medium is typical for through-hole parts; reeling is not available for this package variant.
