Flyback controller with an 800 V integrated MOSFET — what this means for your supply design
The Infineon ICE2QR2280G1XUMA1 is an offline flyback PWM controller with a built-in 800 V avalanche-rated CoolMOS™ power MOSFET, part of the CoolSET™-Q1 family. It switches at 52 kHz and delivers up to 53 W of output power in an isolated flyback topology.
53 W output, 52 kHz switching — sizing the transformer and the BOM
At 53 W and 52 kHz, the 50% maximum duty cycle limits the primary switch stress and simplifies the control loop compensation. The integrated 800 V MOSFET eliminates an external switch and its gate-drive components, shrinking the PCB footprint and reducing the part count.
Fault protections and temperature range — what the ratings cover
The ICE2QR2280G1XUMA1 packs current limiting, over-load, over-temperature, and over-voltage protection on-chip. The over-temperature shutdown is tied to the junction temperature, so a hot-running design (enclosed supply, high ambient) gets a hard stop before the silicon degrades. The junction temperature range spans -40°C to 150°C, which covers outdoor telecom cabinets, factory-floor enclosures, and engine-bay auxiliary supplies without needing a separate thermal derating calculation.
