Controller for CCFL and linear fluorescent ballasts
The ICB2FL03GXUMA2 is a Fluorescent Lamp Controller from Infineon Technologies, designed for driving CCFL and linear fluorescent lamps in ballast applications. It operates from a 10.6V to 17.5V supply rail, drawing 4.2 mA, and switches the lamp at a programmable frequency between 20 kHz and 100 kHz — the upper end avoids audible noise while the lower end keeps switching losses in the external MOSFETs manageable. The controller is not a dimming type (Dimming: No), meaning it is intended for on/off ballast control rather than continuous brightness adjustment.
Package and board integration
The SOIC-16 footprint is a common, low-cost package with good thermal dissipation for a controller drawing 4.2 mA — no heatsinking is required.
Rated for -25°C to 150°C operating temperature, the ICB2FL03GXUMA2 covers the full industrial ambient range and extends into high-temperature environments such as enclosed ballast housings near hot lamps. The 150°C upper limit provides margin above typical 85°C or 105°C industrial grades — useful for compact luminaires where the controller sits close to the lamp heat.
