The 140 ns access time means the part keeps pace with a standard asynchronous SRAM interface — the processor reads or writes a byte every 140 ns without wait states, assuming the bus timing matches. FRAM writes are non-volatile and do not require a page or sector erase before writing, unlike serial EEPROM or NOR flash. The write cycle time matches the read access at 140 ns — there is no write-cycle penalty, so the part absorbs random byte writes at the same speed as reads.
