2Mbit FRAM with SPI — no write-cycle worries
The Cypress FM25V20A-DGQTR is a 2Mbit FRAM (Ferroelectric RAM) in the F-RAM™ series, organized as 256K x 8 bits. This makes it a drop-in replacement for serial EEPROM or SRAM in designs that need frequent, fast writes without endurance concerns — think data logging, metering, or industrial control where you are writing every few milliseconds for years.
What the 40 MHz SPI and 2Mbit buy you
The 40 MHz SPI clock lets you read or write the full 2Mbit in about 6.4 ms — fast enough for real-time data capture in energy meters or motor drives. The 2V to 3.6V supply range means it runs on a 3.3V rail with margin for brownout, or on a 2.5V rail in low-power systems.
Package and layout: 8-DFN with exposed pad
The part comes in an 8-WDFN exposed-pad package (5x6 mm DFN). The SPI pins are standard — CS, SCK, SI, SO — and the footprint matches other 8-pin DFN FRAM parts from Cypress, so you can swap density options on the same board layout.
