The CYPD4225-40LQXI is an Infineon EZ-PD™ CCG4 USB Type-C controller built around an ARM® Cortex®-M0 core.
Housed in a 40-UFQFN with an exposed pad (6x6 mm body), the package requires a thermal via array under the pad to pull heat from the core during high-current PD negotiation. Surface-mount only — the 0.50 mm pitch QFN demands a solder-paste stencil with a 0.25 mm aperture for the centre pad to avoid voids.

The CCG4 family supports USB PD 3.0 with PPS (Programmable Power Supply). The 128 KB flash leaves room for the PD 3.0 stack plus custom VDM. Confirm the exact firmware revision with Infineon for your target PD revision.
The CYPD2122 is a smaller CCG2 variant with 32 KB flash, 14 I/O, and a 24-QFN package. The CYPD4225 offers 4× the program memory (128 KB vs 32 KB) and more than double the I/O (30 vs 14), making it a better fit for multi-port designs or complex PD policies. Both share the Cortex-M0 core and I²C/SPI/UART/USB interface set, but they are not pin-compatible — the 40-QFN footprint differs from the 24-QFN.
Infineon provides the EZ-PD Configuration Utility and the CCGx SDK for firmware development. Programming is done over the SWD (Serial Wire Debug) interface using a standard ARM debug probe such as the J-Link or the MiniProg4. The 128 KB flash is partitioned for the bootloader and application image; refer to the CCG4 application note for the memory map.
