What the 3V to 24.5V supply range means for your design
The CYPD3174-16SXQT runs on a supply from 3V to 24.5V — that covers standard USB bus power (5V) straight through to common notebook adapter rails (20V) without an external regulator. The wide input tolerance simplifies the power tree: you can tap the VBUS line directly and skip a separate buck stage. The ARM Cortex-M0 core handles the USB PD negotiation stack, while the 32KB flash and 8K x 8 RAM leave room for custom policy engine code. The I²C, SPI, and UART interfaces let it talk to a system host or a separate charger IC.
The 0.154-inch pitch is hand-solderable, so it is one of those parts you can swap in the field with a decent iron and some flux. The wide temperature grade means it keeps negotiating PD contracts when the enclosure gets warm.
Part of the EZ-PD CCG3PA series, which targets USB Type-C and Power Delivery applications. The 5 I/O pins are enough for the CC lines, a VBUS discharge control, and a status LED or an interrupt back to the host.
