The Infineon CYPD3123-40LQXIT is a dedicated USB Type-C controller from the EZ-PD™ CCG3 family, built around an ARM® Cortex®-M0 core. The wide supply range from 2.7 V to 21.5 V means it can be powered directly from VBUS or a system rail without an external regulator in many designs, simplifying the BOM for a USB-C downstream-facing port or dual-role port controller.
Active lifecycle and ROHS3 compliance — no LTB pressure
It is also ROHS3 Compliant, which clears it for EU and California regulatory requirements without an exemption expiry to track. For a production BOM line that needs a USB-C controller with a stable supply outlook, this part does not introduce obsolescence risk in the near term.
40-QFN (6x6) with exposed pad — thermal and reflow notes
The package is a 40-UFQFN with an exposed pad, supplied as 40-QFN (6x6). The surface-mount profile follows standard lead-free reflow with a peak around 260°C.
Flash endurance and firmware update strategy
With 128 KB of Flash, the firmware image for the PD stack and any custom vendor-defined messages fits comfortably, leaving room for an OTA staging area if the design supports field updates. The 8K x 8 RAM handles the runtime data structures and buffer for PD message exchanges. For a product that will see 100k or more connect/disconnect cycles over its life, the Flash endurance rating (typically 100k program/erase cycles per sector for this class of embedded Flash) should be factored into the wear-leveling strategy for any configuration data stored in Flash.
