Core and memory — the application envelope
The CY8C4248AZI-L485: The ARM Cortex-M0 core runs at 48 MHz — the throughput ceiling for deterministic interrupt response in a touch-sense or fieldbus gateway application. The brown-out detect and POR reset sequence is documented in the PSoC 4 TRM; the LVD threshold is programmable via the UDB.
Supply and temperature — single-rail industrial range
The internal oscillator and flash retention are characterised across this range; no derating is required at the high end.
Peripherals and I/O — CapSense, CAN, USB on one die
53 general-purpose I/O are available in the 64-TQFP — enough for a 16-key capacitive touch panel plus a parallel LCD data bus and a CAN transceiver interface. The CapSense block with SmartSense auto-tuning eliminates the external touch controller and the manual calibration step during production; the LCD drive supports up to 4 commons and 32 segments directly. Connectivity includes CAN 2.0B, full-speed USB (device/host), I²C, SPI, UART, IrDA, LIN, and Microwire — the USB PHY is on-chip with a built-in 3.3 V regulator, so only a USB connector and a 22-ohm series resistor on D+/D- are needed for the bus. The 12-bit SAR ADC has 16 channels with a 1 Msps conversion rate; the four 8-bit DACs are IDACs suitable for sensor excitation or analog output.
