What this PSoC 4 brings to a BOM line
The Infineon CY8C4125LQI-S423T is a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0+ MCU from the PSoC 4 series, clocked at 24 MHz with 32 KB of Flash and 4K x 8 of RAM. It integrates CapSense touch sensing, LCD segment drive, and a full set of serial interfaces — I2C, SPI, UART/USART, LINbus, IrDA, Microwire, SmartCard, and SSP — all in a 40-pin QFN with an exposed pad for thermal management. The 34 general-purpose I/O lines and the internal oscillator keep external component count low for cost-sensitive control panels, sensor hubs, and human-machine interfaces.
CapSense and LCD drive — what they save on the BOM
The integrated CapSense block eliminates a dedicated touch-controller IC for capacitive touch buttons, sliders, or proximity sensors. The LCD drive peripheral can directly segment-drive a small character or segment LCD display without an external driver chip. For a control panel with four touch buttons and a 16-segment display, this MCU replaces three separate ICs — the touch controller, the LCD driver, and the main MCU — consolidating the BOM and reducing board area.
Lifecycle and sourcing posture
The CY8C4125LQI-S423T carries an Active lifecycle status with ROHS3 compliance.
