CapSense controller with M8C core — what the 16 KB Flash and 2K x 8 RAM mean for your BOM
The Infineon CY8C20446A-24LQXIT is a dedicated capacitive-sensing controller from the CapSense® Controllers family, built around the 8-bit M8C core. The 28 general-purpose I/O pins give headroom for scanning a 12- to 16-key matrix plus LED feedback, all without an external multiplexer. Supply range spans 1.71 V to 5.5 V, so the same part can sit on a 1.8 V core rail or a 5 V legacy backplane.
Package and footprint — 32-UFQFN with exposed pad
The Tape & Reel shipping format (Cut Tape also available) suits automated pick-and-place lines.
Interface and application fit
Communication with a host processor runs over I²C or SPI — both are available on-chip. The I²C interface can operate as a slave at standard and fast-mode speeds, which is the typical hookup for a touch-sensor panel reporting to a main application MCU. The SPI port can be used for higher-throughput data transfer or to daisy-chain multiple CapSense controllers on the same bus.
Lifecycle status — active, no LTB pressure
Infineon lists the CY8C20446A-24LQXIT with an Active product status. This is not a shortage-risk line item for the foreseeable production horizon.
