Synchronous FIFO — 288K (32K x 9) at 100 MHz
The Cypress CY7C4271-10JC is a synchronous FIFO memory from the CY7C series, organized as 32K words by 9 bits (288K total). It supports a 100 MHz data rate with an 8 ns access time, making it suitable for high-speed data buffering in telecom, datacom, and video processing applications where sustained throughput and deterministic latency matter. The 9-bit width is notable — the extra bit is often used for parity or control signaling alongside the 8-bit data word.
5 V supply — 3.3 V compatibility requires level shifting
Its inputs and outputs are 5 V logic levels. If your system runs on 3.3 V, direct connection will violate the input thresholds — you need external level translators or a separate 5 V rail for this FIFO. This is a common oversight when sourcing a legacy FIFO for a newer design.
32-PLCC footprint — legacy surface-mount package
Housed in a 32-lead PLCC (J-Lead) package (supplier device package 32-PLCC, 11.43x13.97 mm), this is a legacy surface-mount footprint. The J-Lead form factor is still manufacturable but less common in modern high-density designs. If you are retrofitting an existing board, the footprint is standard; for a new layout, consider whether a newer FIFO in a QFP or BGA package offers a smaller board area.
If your application sees temperature extremes, look for a FIFO with an extended temperature grade.
New production has ceased; availability is limited to surplus inventory and broker channels.
