18 Mbit synchronous SRAM — 150 MHz clock, 3.8 ns access
The CY7C1380B-150AC: This is a volatile, SDR (single data rate) memory intended for high-speed cache, buffer, and working-memory applications in networking, telecom, and test equipment where the bus width and clock rate must match a controller's timing budget.
The 150 MHz clock rate defines the maximum sustainable throughput: a 36-bit word every cycle, or 5.4 Gbit/s peak. The 3.8 ns access time is the delay from clock edge to data valid — this sets the setup/hold margin at the controller side. If the controller's input timing closure demands less than 4 ns, this part fits; a slower controller may relax the spec, but the 150 MHz ceiling still governs the system clock.
512K × 36 organization — why the width matters
The 36-bit word width is wider than the common x32 or x18 organizations. This is useful when the data path carries 32 data bits plus 4 parity or ECC bits, or when two 18-bit channels are multiplexed. The 100-TQFP package (14x20 mm, 0.5 mm pitch) provides the I/O count to support that bus width. Board layout must accommodate the fine pitch and plan decoupling for the 3.135–3.6 V supply rail.
If the system sees ambient above 70°C or below 0°C, a different temperature grade (industrial or automotive) is needed.
The CY7C1380B-150AC is listed as obsolete. For new designs, a pin-compatible synchronous SRAM may be considered, but compatibility must be verified against the current datasheet.
