375 MHz DDR II SRAM — what the clock rate buys you
The Cypress CY7C1270V18-375BZXC is a 36Mbit synchronous DDR II SRAM organized as 1M x 36, clocked at 375 MHz. That clock rate delivers back-to-back read/write throughput without dead cycles — the DDR II bus turns data on both edges, so the effective data rate is 750 MT/s per pin. For a system architect sizing a high-speed cache or packet buffer, this part fills the gap between a standard synchronous SRAM and a full QDR device, with a simpler bus protocol that avoids the extra control pins. The 1M x 36 organization gives a 36-bit word width, useful for 32-bit data buses with parity or ECC overhead.
Cypress (now part of Infineon) no longer manufactures it, and no direct pin-compatible replacement has been published under the CY7C1270 base number.
Package and temperature — design-in constraints
The 165-FBGA (15x17 mm) package is a fine-pitch BGA. Rework is possible with a hot-air station and a preheater, but the ball array under the body means you cannot easily probe individual signals — first-article bring-up should budget for a socketed adapter or a test board with breakout.
