25 ns access time — bus-margin reality
For a 40 MHz bus (25 ns period), that leaves zero margin for address-to-data setup — you need a slower bus or a wait state. At 20 MHz (50 ns period) the margin is comfortable. If your processor runs faster than 20 MHz, check the address-to-data timing budget before committing the BOM line.
If your design can tolerate a footprint change, a modern dual-port SRAM in a QFP or BGA package may be a better long-term fit for new builds.
