Device identity and clock-tree fit
The CY2XP21ZXC is a PLL-based clock generator from Infineon, accepting a crystal input and producing a single LVPECL output at up to 140 MHz. The 1:1 input-to-output ratio and differential output (LVPECL) make it a clean fit for a point-to-point clock tree where a low-jitter, high-frequency reference is needed for a single destination — a SerDes reference clock, an FPGA transceiver input, or a high-speed ADC sampling clock.
Not rated for industrial or automotive thermal profiles.
The 0.65 mm pin pitch is two-layer-board friendly — the LVPECL output pair (Q, Q#) routes as a controlled-impedance differential pair with a ground plane underneath. The crystal input pins (XI, XO) should be kept short and isolated from the output traces to avoid coupling the output edge back into the oscillator.
