What this clock buffer does
The Cypress CY2305SXC-1HT is a PLL-based fanout buffer and zero-delay buffer that takes one clock input and delivers five synchronous clock outputs at the same frequency. It operates from a 3 V to 3.6 V supply and is rated for 0°C to 70°C commercial environments — think office networking gear, test equipment, or indoor telecom line cards where a clean, low-skew clock tree is needed across multiple loads. The PLL locks the output edges to the input edge with near-zero propagation delay, which is why it's called a zero-delay buffer. That matters when you're distributing a clock to multiple ICs and can't tolerate the cumulative delay of a simple buffer chain.
The maximum frequency is 133.33 MHz. The 1:5 ratio means one input drives five outputs. That's enough for a small clock tree — say, clocking a CPU, two Ethernet PHYs, an FPGA, and a spare — without needing a second buffer stage. If you need more than five outputs, plan on cascading two parts or using a larger fanout device.
That limits it to indoor, climate-controlled equipment — server rooms, lab instruments, office switches. Not rated for outdoor base stations, motor drives, or under-hood electronics.
