Dual-channel high-side switch with 90 mOhm Rds(on) for automotive loads
The Infineon BTS70902EPLXUMA1 is a PROFET smart high-side power switch designed to drive resistive, inductive, and capacitive loads in 12 V and 24 V automotive systems. It integrates two N-channel power MOSFETs with a typical on-resistance of 90 mOhm each, controlled by a logic-level input with non-inverting polarity. Typical uses include driving exterior lighting, solenoid valves, small DC motors, and relay coils in body-control modules, transmission control units, and engine-management ECUs.
Built-in fault protection simplifies the BOM
The BTS70902EPLXUMA1 includes fixed current limiting, over-temperature shutdown, short-circuit protection, and undervoltage lockout (UVLO). These protections are self-contained — no external sense resistor, comparator, or clamp diode is needed. The UVLO ensures the switch turns off cleanly when the supply drops below the operating threshold, preventing the MOSFET from operating in the linear region. Over-temperature protection latches off the channel until the die cools, then auto-restarts, which is a common PROFET behaviour for driving lamps with inrush current.
Automotive qualification and 150°C junction rating
The 150°C TJ max allows placement in under-hood or transmission-mounted ECUs where ambient temperatures exceed 105°C. The pad also provides a low-inductance ground return for the switch outputs.
