High-side switch with 20 mOhm Rds(on) — conduction loss and thermal budget
The BTS50201EKAXUMA1 is a single-channel high-side power switch from Infineon's PROFET family, built with an N-channel MOSFET and a charge pump that allows the output to be driven from a logic-level On/Off input without a separate Vcc supply. The 20 mOhm typical on-resistance means that at the 6.5 A maximum continuous output, the I²R conduction loss is under 1 W — a figure the PG-DSO-14-47-EP exposed-pad package can dissipate with a reasonable copper pour on the PCB. The load voltage range spans 5 V to 28 V, covering nominal 12 V and 24 V automotive and industrial rails.
Fault protection set — no external sense components needed
On-die fault protection includes current limiting (fixed threshold), open-load detection, and over-temperature shutdown. These features eliminate the need for an external sense resistor, comparator, or thermal watchdog, saving board area and BOM count in a high-side switch application. The input is non-inverting and the output configuration is high-side with a 1:1 ratio — the switch turns on when the input is high.
150°C junction rating — deployment in hot environments
The -40°C low end covers cold-crank startup and outdoor equipment power-up.
