Parametric deep-dive — Rds(on), protection, and package
At 10 mOhm typical, the BTS3256DAUMA1 dissipates roughly 0.56 W at 7.5 A — the PG-TO252-5-11 package with its exposed tab can handle that with proper board copper. Compare this to the sibling BTS142DATMA1 which lists 23 mOhm typical; the BTS3256DAUMA1 cuts conduction losses by more than half for the same load current. Integrated fault protection includes fixed current limiting, over-temperature shutdown, over-voltage clamping, and undervoltage lockout. The input is non-inverting with a simple On/Off interface — no external Vcc supply required. The Auto Restart feature lets the output recover after a fault clears, which is useful for lamp or solenoid loads that see inrush.
