Product details

Single-channel low-side switch for 12V and 24V loads

The Infineon BTS3134NHUMA1 is a single-channel low-side N-channel power switch from the HITFET® family, designed for general-purpose on/off switching of resistive, inductive, and lamp loads. It integrates a 35mOhm typical Rds(on) MOSFET with fixed current limiting, over-temperature protection, and over-voltage clamping — no external Vcc supply required, just the load voltage up to 42V.

The 35mOhm typical on-resistance and 3A continuous output are specified. For a 12V resistive load pulling 2A, the voltage drop across the switch stays under 100mV.

Fault protection set — no external clamp needed for most inductive loads

Built-in current limiting (fixed threshold), over-temperature shutdown, and over-voltage clamping cover the common failure modes for a low-side switch driving solenoids, relays, or incandescent lamps. The over-voltage clamp absorbs inductive flyback energy, so an external free-wheeling diode is optional for most loads — verify energy per pulse against the clamp rating in the datasheet. Over-temperature protection latches the output off until the junction cools, then restarts automatically. This protection set reduces external component count on the BOM.

The base product number BTS3134 covers the family.

Frequently asked questions

Is BTS3134NHUMA1 obsolete or active?

BTS3134NHUMA1 is Active and ROHS3 compliant, with no end-of-life announcement. It remains available for new designs and production builds.

What are the alternatives to BTS3134NHUMA1?

The closest functional peer within the HITFET® family is the BTS142DATMA1, which offers a lower 23mOhm typical Rds(on) and a higher 4.6A continuous output current, also in a single low-side N-channel configuration with the same fault protection set and 42V load voltage. The BTS3134NHUMA1 is the better fit when 3A is sufficient and a smaller package (SOT223-4) is preferred.

Can I use BTS3134NHUMA1 to drive a 12V load?

Yes. The 42V maximum load voltage covers 12V and 24V rails with margin. The 3A continuous output handles typical 12V relays, solenoids, and incandescent lamps. The low-side configuration means the load connects between the positive supply and the switch drain.
