Product details

Low-side switch with integrated protection — BTS3080TFATMA1

The BTS3080TFATMA1 is a single-channel low-side N-channel power switch from Infineon's HITFET® series, designed for general-purpose switching of resistive, inductive, and lamp loads up to 3 A continuous and 40 V load voltage. No external Vcc supply is needed; the gate is driven by the logic-level input directly.

Fault protection and auto-restart behaviour

The switch integrates fixed current limiting, over-temperature shutdown, and over-voltage clamping — no external sense resistor or comparator required. After a thermal fault, the device auto-restarts once the junction cools below the threshold, which suits intermittent overloads like motor inrush or lamp cold-start. The non-inverting input turns the switch on with a logic-high signal; the on/off interface is simple GPIO-driven.

Package, mounting, and temperature range

Housed in a PG-TO252-3 (DPak) surface-mount package with two leads and a drain tab.

The part is ROHS3 compliant.

Delta against BTS142DATMA1 — higher-current sibling

The BTS142DATMA1 is the same HITFET® low-side family, same logic input, same fault protection set, but with a 23 mOhm typical Rds(on) and a 4.6 A continuous output rating at the cost of a slightly larger die. If your load draws over 3 A or you need lower conduction loss, the BTS142 is the direct step-up. The BTS3080 covers the 1–3 A band efficiently and at a lower unit cost.

Frequently asked questions

Is BTS3080TFATMA1 a direct replacement for BTS142DATMA1?

Both are HITFET® low-side switches with the same pinout and fault protection, but the BTS142DATMA1 has a 23 mOhm Rds(on) and 4.6 A output versus the BTS3080's 69 mOhm and 3 A. If your load current exceeds 3 A or you need lower conduction loss, the BTS142 is the correct part. For loads within 3 A, the BTS3080 is a cost-optimised fit.
