250 V N-channel in a SOT-23 — what it buys you
The Infineon BSS139IXTSA1 is a small-signal N-channel MOSFET that packs a 250 V drain-source rating into a three-pin SOT-23-3 package. It is designed for switching and linear-mode applications where the load current stays under 100 mA — think relay and solenoid drivers, DC-DC converter auxiliary rails, or level shifters in industrial control boards.
On-resistance and drive voltage — the trade-off
Rds(on) is specified at 14 Ohm maximum with 10 V gate drive and 100 mA drain current. That is a high enough resistance that the part is not meant for continuous power delivery — the 360 mW package dissipation limit is the real constraint.
Temperature range and package fit
The gate charge is just 2.3 nC at 5 V, so a microcontroller GPIO can drive the gate directly without a pre-driver.
