Automotive-grade pre-biased PNP for switched loads
The Infineon BCR166WE6327 is a PNP pre-biased digital transistor qualified to AEC-Q101 for automotive applications. It integrates a 4.7 kOhms base resistor and a 47 kOhms emitter-base resistor in a single SC-70 / SOT-323 package, reducing external component count for switched-load interfaces like relay drivers, solenoid coils, and logic-level level shifters in engine control units or body electronics.
With a 100 mA continuous collector rating and 50 V Vce breakdown, this part handles the common automotive 12 V / 24 V switched loads — lamps, small relays, indicator LEDs — without needing an external base resistor. The 300 mV saturation voltage at 500 µA base / 10 mA collector keeps conduction losses low enough that the 250 mW power limit in the SOT-323 package is rarely the binding constraint in a 50 °C ambient underhood environment.
160 MHz fT — switching speed matters
The 160 MHz transition frequency is notably high for a pre-biased PNP. It means this transistor can switch cleanly at PWM frequencies well above the audio band — think 20 kHz to 100 kHz solenoid dither or LED dimming — where a standard digital transistor with a lower fT would show degraded rise/fall times and increased switching loss.
Active lifecycle — no last-time-buy risk
The AEC-Q101 qualification also means the wafer fab and assembly line are locked to automotive-grade process controls, which tends to keep the part available longer than a commercial-grade equivalent.
