PNP pre-biased transistor for space-constrained switching
The BCR 179L3 E6327: The Infineon BCR 179L3 is a PNP pre-biased digital transistor in an ultra-small SC-101 / SOT-883 package (PG-TSLP-3-4). It integrates a 10 kOhm base resistor and a 50 V collector-emitter breakdown voltage, rated for 100 mA continuous collector current. The built-in bias network eliminates two external resistors from the BOM, making it a clean fit for low-power load switching, relay drivers, and logic-level interface circuits where board space is at a premium.
Ratings that decide the fit
The minimum DC current gain of 120 at 5 mA, 5 V ensures consistent saturation drive even with modest base current from a GPIO pin. Saturation voltage is specified at 300 mV maximum at 500 µA base current and 10 mA collector current, which keeps conduction losses low in the on-state. Transition frequency of 150 MHz supports switching applications up to that range. The 250 mW power dissipation ceiling is the thermal constraint in the tiny TSLP package.
Package and mounting
Surface-mount in SC-101 / SOT-883 (PG-TSLP-3-4). The 3-pin leadless package sits low on the board, suitable for handheld and IoT modules. Tape & Reel delivery matches high-speed pick-and-place.
