The 45 V Vce breakdown gives headroom for 24 V or 36 V rails with derating. The 500 mA Ic maximum covers driving relays, solenoids, small DC motors, or LED strings — but watch the 1 W power dissipation limit: at 500 mA, the Vce drop must stay under 2 V to stay within the package's thermal budget. The 170 MHz fT means it can switch at a few hundred kilohertz without significant gain roll-off, useful for low-frequency PWM or DC-DC converter pre-drive. The 100 nA maximum collector cutoff current (ICBO) is tight enough for battery-powered circuits where leakage matters.
