The Infineon BC 817-25 E6327 is a general-purpose NPN transistor in a SOT-23 surface-mount package. The '25' gain group specifies a DC current gain (hFE) of 160 to 400 at 100 mA, 1 V — a medium-gain selection suited for linear amplification and moderate-speed switching in low-power circuits. Typical applications include driver stages, relay and LED drivers, signal amplification, and general-purpose switching in consumer, industrial, and telecom equipment where a small-signal NPN in a SOT-23 footprint is needed.
For existing designs, the BOM line must be filled through the surplus and broker channel. The SOT-23 footprint is widely used, so a pin-compatible replacement from another manufacturer is the typical cross-reference path.
The 330 mW power dissipation limit in the SOT-23 package means derating is needed at elevated ambient temperatures — at 85 °C ambient, the available power drops roughly by half. The 170 MHz transition frequency is adequate for low-frequency switching up to a few MHz; for higher-speed pulse applications, a dedicated switching transistor may be a better fit. The 700 mV Vce saturation at 50 mA base drive and 500 mA collector current is typical for a small-signal NPN and ensures low on-state voltage drop in saturated switching.
