Automotive-grade dual Schottky in a SOT-23 footprint
The Infineon BAS70-05B5000 is a dual Schottky diode in a common-cathode configuration, rated at 70 V reverse voltage and 70 mA average rectified current per diode, housed in a standard SOT-23-3 surface-mount package (PG-SOT23-3-3). The AEC-Q101 qualification targets it for automotive electronics — under-hood modules, body controllers, and infotainment — where the 150°C junction temperature rating handles the thermal cycling of an engine bay or cabin. The common-cathode pair is useful for OR-ing power rails, clamping inductive loads, or building a rail-to-rail protection clamp with two diodes in one package, saving board space over two single SOT-23 diodes.
70 V reverse voltage — what it buys you
The 70 V VR(max) is the hard ceiling for the reverse bias across either diode. For a 12 V automotive rail, this gives over 5× derating margin, which is comfortable for load-dump transients that can spike above 40 V. On a 24 V truck or industrial bus, the margin is still 3×, so this diode fits standard 12 V and 24 V systems without needing a higher-voltage (100 V) Schottky that would carry a larger Vf penalty. The 100 nA maximum reverse leakage at 50 V keeps standby draw negligible in battery-backed circuits.
Forward voltage and current rating — application fit
Forward voltage is specified at 1 V maximum at 15 mA. The 70 mA average rectified current per diode limits each diode to light loads: think I²C bus protection, GPIO clamp, or a low-current sensor supply OR-ing, not a power-supply output rectifier. The Small Signal =< 200 mA speed classification confirms this is a switching diode, not a power rectifier — it is built for fast recovery in signal-path and low-current switching roles.
Package and footprint: SOT-23-3 common-cathode pinout
The BAS70-05B5000 uses the standard SOT-23-3 land pattern (TO-236-3 / SC-59 variant) with the Infineon-specific PG-SOT23-3-3 supplier package code. This is the same pinout as the industry-standard BAS70-05 family, so it drops onto any existing BAS70-05 footprint without a layout change. The SOT-23 body is 2.9 mm × 1.3 mm, MSL 1 per the Infineon Schottky family — no bake required before reflow if the reel seal is intact.
