What this MOSFET brings to a power stage
The Infineon AUIRFSL3206 is an automotive-grade N-channel HEXFET MOSFET rated for 60 V drain-source and 120 A continuous switching current.
Gate charge and switching loss
Total gate charge is 170 nC at Vgs = 10 V. For a 100 kHz switching frequency, the average gate-drive current needed is roughly 17 mA — well within the capability of a standard driver IC, but the peak current from the driver still needs to handle the Miller plateau. The 170 nC figure also sets the transition-time budget for hard-switched topologies.
Junction temperature spans -55°C to 175°C — this is the full automotive under-hood envelope. The 175°C Tj(max) means the part can sit next to an exhaust manifold or in a transmission controller without derating the junction temperature prematurely. The 300 W power dissipation figure assumes an ideal heatsink; real-world continuous dissipation will be lower, governed by the thermal resistance of the mounting interface.
Lifecycle and sourcing posture
For a production BOM, that means no imminent obsolescence risk.
