Automotive-grade N-Channel power switch
It is a through-hole part, typically in a TO-220AB package, suited for power stages in automotive ECUs, DC-DC converters, motor drives, and solenoid drivers.
On-resistance and gate drive — what 8.5 mOhm and 86 nC mean
Total gate charge is 86 nC at 10 V, which translates to a 0.86 µC switching charge per cycle — a 100 kHz PWM duty requires 86 mA average from the gate driver, well within a standard automotive pre-driver. The 4 V gate threshold at 250 µA ensures the FET is fully off with a 0 V gate signal, but the 10 V recommended drive is needed to reach the rated Rds(on).
Pin-compatible with IRF1010EZ — same footprint, wider temp range
The AUIRF1010EZ is the automotive-grade version of the IRF1010EZ, sharing the same TO-220 footprint and pinout, but rated for 175 °C junction temperature versus the commercial-grade 150 °C. For a BOM line currently using the IRF1010EZ, the AUIRF1010EZ drops in without a PCB change and adds the wider temperature margin — useful for designs that need AEC-Q101 traceability.
